Research Framework
It is the goal of the Center, through the Research core, to understand and address major health disparities facing Asian American communities. A multidisciplinary scientific framework guides all of CSAAH’s research efforts.
All CSAAH research studies are committed to:

The specific aims of the Research core are as follows:
- To develop a broad-based multi-disciplinary collaboration between physician-scientists, clinical and social epidemiologists, community-based providers in order to reduce health disparities in the Asian American community.
- To examine specific health challenges in the Asian American community and collect specific data on various health status and health disparities issues.
- To conduct research that reduces barriers to health care access and utilization of prevention and treatment services.
CSAAH’s scientific focus areas include the following:
- Understanding differences in rates of cardiovascular disease and the risk for cardiovascular disease for Asian ethnic groups
- Exploring the relationship between viral and bacteria infections and cancer;
- Elucidating the role of social and cultural factors in health disparities; and
- Addressing mental health disparities.
